Ms. Tex, aka Tex-Mex, so named becuase her favorite food is Nachos
with chili, cheese and, of course, jalapenos. She likes chili dogs,
to, unless they come from Sonic Drive-In. For some reason, she does
not like their chili. Shirley says thats okay, just leaves more
for her.
Tex has been "The Store Kitty", since arriving at 5 weeks
of age. Just weened by a Veterinary Technician that found her at
about 2 weeks old and bottle fed her, Tex ate anything we did. Pickles,
Pretzels, whatever. Finally, she grew out of most of that, but NOT
the Nachos or Chili! She does all the inventory, and makes sure
that all of our customers find just the right item.
We tried showing her. Very short career. Got her champion ship
in one weekend, finalling in the second ring she was in. Fortunate
for us, since she spent the rest of the weekend growling and hissing
at the judges. Little did we know at the time, it was not because
she was scared. She saw them touching other cats first, and that
was a very, very bad offense! We did not know that until we had
another cat from home, and someone touched him first. Then, growl,
growl, hiss, hiss. A true Red Headed temperament, to match her color!
After 4 years in the Store, she is taking a welcome break at home,
and adjusting very nicely to the "domestic" routine after
being a working cat for over 4 years. She has been mentioned in
magazine articles for her role in welcoming guests to the store.
