Sable literally picked out my son. He found her in a chain petstore
in Kentucky. She had already been returned 3 times as an "uncontrolable"
kitty. He was not looking for a cat, when she caught his eye. They
offered to send her home with him on a "trial" basis,
since she had been returned so many times. Sable decided she liked
Jeff, and has been "his cat" ever since. Even when he
was in Afghanistan for 6 months, and she had to stay with friends.
Even now, when he is in Hawaii for 3 years, and seems to be a long-term
"visitor" here at the Cat House, she is still "his
cat!" She has become the delight of Shirley's guests and customers,
though, always running to the door with a "welcome" look
on her face. But, not always to be patted. She is very choosey about
who can touch her.
Sable 1st visited us for Christmas, 2000. Got dumped in a car,
driven to Houston from Kentucky, suddenly exposed to Shirley's cats
and dog, then a week later, we entered her in a local TICA show
as a household pet. She captured the hearts of all the judges, with
finals in 10 of twelve rings, including 2 best hhp and best in 2
specialty rings! Enough points and wins for a dual Master in one
show. All this, one show, in the hieght of the campaign season,
with 26 other hhp's in competition. Then got to ride in the car
back to Kentucky. (She then told Jeff enough is enough, and has
not been shown since.)
Sable has joined Jeff and now lives in El Paso, TX.
